First Steps Back with My Camera

After weeks of recovery from my knee replacement, today was the day. I finally picked up my camera, laced up my boots (carefully!), and stepped outside for my first proper walk. It wasn’t a grand adventure to the mountains or the coast, but just being out in my local area felt like a big moment.
The fresh air hit me instantly, and for the first time in a long while, I wasn’t thinking about my knee—I was thinking about the light, the shapes, and the details around me. There’s something about seeing the world through a camera that makes you appreciate even the simplest things.
More than anything, it felt good to be back behind the camera. Photography has always been a way for me to slow down and connect with the world, and today was a reminder of why I love it so much. My knee still has some healing to do, but today was a step—literally—in the right direction.
If you’ve ever had time away from something you love, you’ll know the feeling. That first moment back is special, and today was exactly that.
Here’s to many more walks, more photos, and more moments to appreciate.
